Right in central Amsterdam, the Rozetuin (rose garden) area of the Vondelpark is a relaxed summer hangout for gay men near the fountains, with the wooded corners busier after dark. Easy to reach and friendly, though the late-night scene is not for the faint-hearted.
Getting there
The rose garden and the fountains are inside the Vondelpark, in the centre, so almost any tram that skirts the park works. The wooded corners are the after-dark part.
When it's active
Summer afternoons for the social lawn; late night for a rougher scene.
What to know
Central and easy is not the same as gentle. The late-night park is a different crowd from the picnic crowd.
