Cruising in Sydney: Obelisk Beach and the harbour bush

A cove in Sydney Harbour National Park. The beach is the social part. The bush beside it is the cover, and other hikers use the same headland.

Sydney on Crusit is one cove, and the mistake is to treat it like a bar beach in Sitges. Obelisk is inside a national park, on the harbour, with a walk in and a walk out.

The cove

Obelisk Beach, in Mosman, is the nude strand. Daytime is when it makes sense: you can see the track, the water, and who else is on the sand. Harbour weather turns faster than the forecast you read in the city. Check the park access before you promise anyone a short stroll.

The bush

The trails beside the beach are the part people use when they want cover. They are the same headland other visitors use to look at the harbour. A nude beach with a view is still a public park. Step aside for hikers, and do not assume a side path is unsupervised because it left the sand.

How it compares

If you wanted lifeguards, numbered towers, and a parking lot on a highway, that is Haulover. If you wanted a dune reserve with a kiosk number, that is Maspalomas. Obelisk is the small, scenic version: one cove, a track, and a reason to leave while you can still find the start of the path. The Sydney page is the listing.
